The Pleiades are a cluster of stars also known as the seven sisters located in the constellation of Taurus the Bull. They are counted among the 15 behenian fixed stars with Alcyone as their focal star. Read more about Alcyone + the Pleiades in the new reference library.
According to the Book of Hermes on the Fifteen Fixed Stars: “Fennel seed with frankincense and quicksilver placed under a crystal with the appropriate character [engraved on it], with the Moon conjunct the Pleiades rising or at midheaven, preserves the eyesight, summons demons and the spirits of the dead, calls the winds, and reveals secrets and things that are lost.” Agrippa adds the talismanic image: “Under the constellation of Pleiades, they made the image of a little Virgin, or the figure of a Lamp; it is reported to increase the light of the eyes, to assemble spirits, to raise winds, to reveal secret and hidden things.”
This release of talismanic rings takes the form of a keyhole eschuteon according to their nature of “revealing secret and hidden things.” They were created in collaboration with my friends Jesse Hathaway Diaz of The Pact and Jackson Walker of Haus of Ophidius who ritually washed and fed the quartz stones during the heliacal rise of Alcyone for our location in the Hudson Valley in June of 2025. I then spent several months with the stones until their form of a keyhole was revealed to me. They were then hand-sculpted in wax and cast into solid sterling silver. Due to Alcyone’s connection with vision, clear sight, and revelation, it was made clear to me that the stones should be set into the rings in such a way that light was able to pass through them completely unimpeded, so they are set in an open-backed bezel with no materia present. Instead, they were suffumigated with frankincense and fennel during their final consecration. This release does not feature an electional chart as the stones were consecrated during the heliacal rise. Each ring comes with a printed copy of the devotional artwork pictured above. Only 11 were made.
