Deneb Algedi is a star located in the tail of the Capricorn (Sea Goat) constellation. Robson refers to it as the “Judicial Point of the Goat.” According to Ptolemy it is of the nature of Saturn and Jupiter. Here Saturn’s discipline and structure combine with Jupiter’s benevolence and expansion, creating a harmonious synergy conducive to stability, leadership, wealth, and lasting success. Deneb Algedi was the first first talismanic release in the shop, and featured a copper plated deer antler in reference to the talismanic image of a stag associated with the star according to Agrippa and the Liber Hermetis. This release in silver pays homage to that and features an antler crown surrounding a chalcedony stone. I chose the form of a crown to emphasize this star’s regal quality and the shield shaped stones to reflect its protective nature. The grounding and sheltering “grandfatherly” spirits of this star have made it one of my favorite to work with.
Agrippa in his Three Books of Occult Philosophy says of Deneb Algedi:
Under the Tail of Capricorn, they made an image of a stag, male goat, or an angry man: these give prosperity and increase wealth.
and also:
The fifteenth is called the Tail of Capricorn. It has among stones chalcedony, among plants marjoram, mugwort, catnip, and that which is called calamint (similar to fleabane), as well as mandrake root.
According to the Hermes on the 15 Fixed Stars:
Moon conjunct the tail of Capricorn rising, gives favor in lawsuits, improves the home in which it is kept, keeps it secure, and increases all manner of riches.
Bernadette Brady also says of the star in Brady’s Book of Fixed Stars:
This is the star of a person who is a benefic ruler, one who is trying to use wisdom and knowledge to protect and help the people around them.
These talismans were created on October 12 2024. During the electional window Deneb Algedi culminated on the midheaven with moon applying to conjoin. The moon was waxing, fast, and unafflicted by the malefics. The moon and Deneb Algedi also conjoin the Part of Fortune, and the election is further fortunated by the presence of the benefic Jupiter on the ascendant. The chart is available to view in the gallery. The chalcedony stones were engraved with the sigil of Deneb Algedi during this period and then suffumigated with catnip and marjoram. They were ritually enspirited with the intention to bestow wealth and protection to their bearers. The antler crown settings for the stones were hand-sculpted in jewelers wax and cast in solid sterling silver. The stones were later set into the silver antler crowns with catnip, marjoram, and powdered antler. 9 were made.
The talismans are approximately 1.5″ tall and comes on your choice of a 20″ oxidized sterling silver chain or black satin cord, accompanied by the devotional artwork pictured above, printed on cardstock. Each talisman contains slight variations due to its handcrafted nature and the use of natural stones, but it will be nearly identical to those pictured and intuitively selected.
